How to fill form 10C online?

To fill form 10C online, the following steps are followed:

Step One: Visit the website www.epfindia.gov.in, the employee provident fund website. Using the UAN ID and password, sign in to your EPF profile.

Step Two: Click on the tab ‘Online Services’ from the top menu bar. Select Claim Form 10C from the dropdown menu.

Step Three: On the next page, you will see your details regarding your membership, such as the EPF contribution details, employment details, and KYC details

Step Four: Click on the ‘proceed online claim’ option, and you will be redirected to the Claims section. Choose the type of claim, whether ‘withdraw PF only’ or ‘withdraw pension only’. Fill in the claim form carefully.

Step Five: On filling and submitting the form, an OTP is sent to the registered mobile number. Enter the OTP to the requested form, to which the withdrawal gets initiated.

Step Six: An SMS is sent to the registered phone number notifying the successful submission.

The requested amount is transferred to the requested bank account on the successful process of the claim.

What are the benefits of Form 10C?

The advantages of form 10C are into the following documents:

  • Scheme Certificate: The scheme certificate is obtainable when the employee has served the employer for a continuous period of 9.5 years at least. Also, it is important to note that the employee has not reached 50 years of age as of the application date. When a person leaves one organization to join another, the scheme certificate carries forward the record of his earlier service period record. The employee can withdraw their PF accumulations at the time of obtaining the scheme certificate.
  • Withdrawal Benefit: The withdrawal certificate has similar conditions as the scheme certificate that is obtainable when the employee has served the employer for a continuous period of 9.5 years at least, and the employee has not reached 50 years of age as of the application date. The employees who are not entitled to a pension till the date of application can use this scheme to get the pension fund money back. The benefit of withdrawal is applicable when the membership is for 180 days or more, excluding the non-contributing period.

What happens if Form 10C is rejected?

The Form 10C can be rejected for reasons such as the difference in name, changing the organizations frequently, incorrect bank details, etc. Some of the common reasons and their solutions are as follows:

  1. Changing the organizations: The previous employer has to transfer the PF account to the new employer, then only you can withdraw the PF amount contributed by the previous employer. This is not automatic even when the UAN is linked with the EPF account. This is a control in the hands of the employer when an employee absconds.
  2. Different name or no name on Cheque: In such case, uploading the passbook or cheque which has the name printed as the account holder is required.
  3. Different UAN numbers: Check the first, middle, and last names, which should match the bank account and the UAN registration. If it does not match, then you need to submit an affidavit to correct your name.
