TDS is the abbreviation of tax deducted at source, a type of indirect tax allocated by the Central Board of Indirect Taxes. A specific amount is deducted through TDS from specific payments like salary, rent, interest on deposits, bonuses, etc., before making the payment to the payee. To deduct TDS under the Income Tax Act, the taxpayers are liable to deposit the TDS amount to the Income Tax Department.
You can check the status online and TDS challan download by following the below-mentioned steps: Step One: Log in to TRACES. Step Two: Go to the tab named statement/ payment. Step Three: Click on the option named statement/challan status and enter the details. Step Five: Click on view statement status to check challan status.
Step One: Login to http://www.tin-nsdl.com, go to the services tab and select e-payment. One can pay the tax online by clicking the tab "e-pay taxes" redirecting to the proper link of e-payment. Step Two: You are required to choose the relevant challan, i.e., ITNS 280/281/282/283/284, as applicable for the TDS. Step Three: Enter all the details, including PAN / TAN, accounting head, identification of the taxpayer, the bank details, etc. Step Four: After entering the mentioned data, the confirmation shall display on the screen. On confirming the validity of PAN / TAN, then the taxpayer's full name as per the registration will be displayed on the screen. Step Five: You will be directed to the payment page for everything confirmed. Step Six: After paying, a challan counterfoil containing CIN will be visible, payment details, and through the bank, the payment has been made.
The taxpayers can check the TDS challan status online, which is displayed in two manners - CIN-based view by entering the Challan Identification Number and TAN based view by entering TAN and Challan Tender Date range for a particular financial year.
