Online TAN Registration for TDA filing

The Tax Deduction and Collection Number, also known as TAN Number, is a 10 digit alphanumeric number that is mandatory to be procured by all eligible persons who collect Tax Deduction at Source (TDS) on behalf of the Government. The eligible persons are required to deposit the tax so deducted to the Central Government- with the help of this TAN Number. The TAN Card is issued by the National Securities Depository Limited (NSDL), on behalf of the Income Tax Department.

Introduction

The Application of TAN Card is mandatory if you are the following mentioned individuals/ entities: -

  • Non-profit organizations
  • Business branches that are making specific payments above the stated threshold limit.
  • Any individual or entity which deducts tax at source when making payments (such as salaries) to contractors or employees.

To obtain a TAN Card, an applicant is required to file an online application of TAN in Form Number 49B. Along with this, the applicant is also required to upload the following documents:-

  • Address proof of the Registered office
  • Passport-sized photograph
  • PAN Card of the Enterprise
  • ID Proof of the Company
  • Legal Documents of the Company- Memorandum of Association, Articles of Association, Certificate of Incorporation, etc.

TAN Card- Apply Online

The process for applying for TAN has been done online. If you want to apply for TAN number, you need to follow these simple steps for applying online. Read on further to understand the entire process in a few simple steps:-

  1. Visit the official NSDL e-Government website (https://www.tin-nsdl.com/services/tan/tan-introduction.html)
  2. Click on ‘TAN’ under the services link.
  3. Click on ‘Apply Online’ and click on ‘New TAN.’
  4. You will be redirected to a new page, where you are required to select ‘category of deductors’
  5. After this, the webpage shall redirect you to Form 49B
  6. You need to fill the entire form with all the necessary details and then click on submit
  7. You will receive an acknowledgment. Save this acknowledgment, and take a printout of the same.

TRACES Website

You can also register yourself as a deductor on the official TRACES website now. Read further to understand the application process on the TRACES Website.

  1. Visit the official TRACES Website.
  2. Click on the ‘Register as New User’ link on the left side of the webpage.
  3. Click on ‘Deductor’- under the type of user, and then click on ‘Proceed’.
  4. Enter the TAN of the Deductor, and then enter the Verification Code. After entering the Verification Code, click on ‘Proceed’.
  5. Enter the token number of the Regular Statement- along with your CIN/BIN and PAN details.
  6. After the KYC information details validation, you will receive an authentication code.
  7. You will be redirected to the confirmation page, where you shall click on ‘Confirm’ to continue Registration.
  8. In the end, you shall receive a message saying, ‘Request successfully sent’.

After this process, you shall receive an activation link and codes to the registered email address and the registered mobile number. Once the activation is done, you will be able to log into the TRACE Website.
