Abstract: The process of Cotton Spinning from cotton bales to the final end product i.e., spun yarn, involves various stages and machines. It can be observed that continuous elimination of short fibres and dust and foreign particles is the basic operations in most of the operations involved. The dust and foreign particles of this process are sent to Open end spinning mills, where they again undergo short fibre elimination. The wastes emanating from open end spinning mills instead of being incinerated or dumped without value and also causing damages to environment and creating health hazard. Hence the cotton wastes were converted into useful bio mass briquettes, which can be used as alternate sources of fuel to wood etc and achieve thermal energy for various purposes. The Bio mass briquettes thus achieved from cotton waste can be in compressed state, capable of producing enough of calorific value for combustion.
Claims:What is claimed is
1) A bio mass briquette comprising of cotton waste as its primary constituent / ingredient
which is capable of producing adequate calorific value while combustion, the said bio mass
briquette is wrought out by compression of cotton waste and other ingredients in appropriate
quantities by physical as well as mechanical means of processing
2) The said bio mass briquette from cotton waste, as claimed in claim 1, is capable of being
used as substitute of wood based fuels in boilers for producing hot water for various textile
processes like bleaching, dyeing etc
3) A method for achieving bio mass based briquettes from cotton waste as basic ingredient,
the said method incorporates, collection of cotton waste and mixing to it other essential
materials, binding of the materials to a compressed state and removal of moisture etc, and
shaping it to required dimensions to achieve the bio mass briquette. , Description:A typically formulated process for converting of Willow waste obtained from Cotton mills ( both spinning mills as well as Open End Spinning mills) into more useful bio mass based fuels for achieving heat and thermal energy and the cotton waste can be converted into briquettes that can be used as a replacement for woods, in turn prevent deforestation. Considering the global climatic issues, the topic draws prior attention.
On the other hand the research aims in production of these bio-mass briquettes from hitherto polluting cotton waste, namely willow waste and supplying it to the textiles mills to regions which have textile processing (dyeing and finishing) units which functions to cater huge import orders on the same.
Huge boilers are used to heat the water in these mills. Hot water is used to prepare the dye paste, to enhance the dyeability and also in cleaning the finished fabric to remove excessive dyes. The willow waste briquettes that are made using post industrial waste can be a wonderful solution, as it is devoid of any harmful dye or chemical that comes in production.
The product when subjected to burning burns instantly since it is dry waste and the basic ingredient being cotton fibers. After various pilot studies done, the willow waste briquettes were prepared and tested for its properties. Since bio-mass briquettes are the current buzz and the resultant values are compared with similar wastes and reported.
The cost comparison was also done thereby enabling areas to work on to this product commercially successful. The demand for sources to derive energy is ever increasing thus paving way to find new options to enable maximum energy. Renewable energy is the new buzz word that draws lot of awareness. India is an agriculture based country which generates huge amount of post agricultural organic waste, that can used for bio-mass briquetting. Willow waste when converted into a fuel material and will help the industries to add a newer knowledge on existing available fuel options.
