Abstract
Abstract: The Waste Assimilator is a compact, easy to use device for households that produces vermicompost along with vermiwash from deposited daily generated biodegradable solid waste with faster assimilation using standardized operating procedure but maintaining a hygienic environment. It comprises of a cylindrical container (1) that is placed on a sturdy platform (2). The container (1) has a sloped base (3) that leads to an outlet (4). Above the base (3) is an aeration layer (5) made of dry bamboo culm pieces and above it is the composting area (6) where biodegradable solid waste is deposited. Above the composting area (6) is the ventilation system (7). All types of biodegradable solid waste are directly deposited in the composting area, even with water. It produces micronutrients in liquid form from aerobic microbial digestion from 3-5 days of use, vermiwash from 25 days till the assimilation process continues and vermicompost after 180 days.
