Since weaving is an ever evolving practice, with time it has got technological variations and advancements and therefore lot of related patent and non-patent literature can be found as published.
For example, an electronic jacquard mechanism for a weaving loom is known from WO 99/ 11850. In such conventional electronic jacquard machine, the threads are passed through a mail' eye of heald wire. This heald wire is then attached to a pair of oscillating hooks via harness cord. These hooks contain a metallic part and are mounted on a pulley. There is a set of electromagnets mounted between the pair of hooks. Whenever the thread or heald wire is to be lifted, corresponding electromagnet is energized so the hook gets attracted and lifts the heald wire/thread. Therefore lifting up and down of thread was required to monitor physically.
However the use of harness cords in jacquard machine requires lot of time in its tying and untying with heald wire, which makes the overall process slow, labour-intensive and having practical limitations on the complexity of pattern.
Additionally, the use of harness cords in machine increased the height and thus, size of the machine to make it less-compact.

Detailed description of the Invention
The invention will be better understood and objects other than those set forth above will become apparent when consideration is given to the following detailed description thereof.
Refer now to Fig 01 which is a front view of device of the invention forming lower shed position which shows mainly the parts; Flat metallic strip (01), magnetizeable surface area of metallic strip (2), solenoid winding wrapped around metallic strip (3), mail eye for passage of thread (4), thermal insulation (5), lower slit area for vertical movement of strip and support rod passage (6), support rod mounted with electromagnets (7) and retaining spring (8).
Fig 2(1) and 2(11) are the comparative figures of device in front view; when lifter head is moving in downward direction i.e. lower shed position and upward direction i.e. upper shed position, respectively.
Said Lifter head can be generally made-up of material like iron or steel which can be easily attracted to magnetic force.
It shows the lifting portion (10a) of lifter head (10) when it is in non-attached mode with surface area (2) of device and a lifter head condition (11) when lifting portion is in attached mode with surface area (2) of strip. Thus, condition 11 shows that the lifter head and electromagnets are attached.

Hence, as shown in figures 1, 2(1) and 2(11), at the top end of the metallic strip 01 is provided a surface area (2) which is magnetizeable in effect of electric current supply to it and placed in a manner that can provide maximum surface for contacting with lifting portion (10a) of lifter head (10). The Mail eye (4) is a simple smooth round small hole enough for the thread to pass in and thread does not come out by any means until broken.
A thermal insulation (5) on metallic strip is provided which can help to avoid thread damage due to excessive heat generated out of continuous operation of machine, nature of thread and like conditions.
At the bottom end of metallic strip is provided a lower slit area (6) which has sufficient gap to allow vertical movement of strip while it's lifting up and down movement. Alternatively said support rod (7) provides vertical support to strip 01. Retaining spring (8) is attached at bottom of the strip to retain metallic strip in its initial position.
Fig 03 is the side view of device of Fig 01 being supported by support tube of which cross section is visible.
It shows solenoid winding (3) connecting, through its interconnecting wire (3a), with metallic contacts (3b) on strip (01).
A support tube (9) provides horizontal support to metallic strip (01) and allows vertical movement of same through it. Said support tube is necessary for power supply as well as to keep the device in exact position for incoming lifter head
Fig. 03 also shows the metallic contacts (9a) for its interconnection with metallic contacts (3b) on strip 01).

The electrical metal contacts (3b) and (9a) respectively on strip 1 and support tube9 are in constant touch with each other to ensure continuous supply and passage of electrical current through the device.
Thus, the device of present invention includes mainly the parts; Flat metallic strip (1), magnetizeable surface area (2) at top end of metallic strip for magnetic attraction, solenoid winding (3) wrapped around metallic strip for passage of current, interconnecting wire (3a) for connection of solenoid winding with metallic contacts (3b) on strip, mail eye 4 for passage of thread, thermal insulation (5) for reduction in heating of strip, lower slit area (6) for vertical support to strip and horizontal passage of support rod, support rod (7) mounted with electromagnets, retaining spring (8), support tube or cross section of support tube (9), electrical metal contacts on support tube (9a), metallic lifter head (10), lifting portion (10a) of lifter head which can fit into surface area of metallic strip and a lifter head condition (11) when surface area of strip 1 is in close contact with lifting portion 10a of lifter head 10.
Therefore in one of preferred embodiment, the present invention provides a metallic strip 1 for harness-less electromagnetic thread lifting device of Jacquard weaving machine, which is characterized by having; magnetizeable surface area for magnetic attraction, solenoids winding for passage of electric current, mail eye for passage of thread, thermal insulation for reduction in heating of strip and lower slit area for vertical movement of strip and horizontal passage of support rod.
The metallic strip selected is preferably of flat strip type. The surface area of strip is magnetizeable by supplying electric current through solenoids and provides maximum surface for magnetic attraction with lifter portion of lifter head. The solenoids of strip are selected preferably from a material of low-magnetic hysteresis.
The mail eye 4 of strip is generally a simple smooth round small hole enough for the thread to pass in and thread does not come out by any means until broken.
The lower slit area 6 of the strip provides sufficient gap which can allow smooth vertical movement of the strip and horizontal passage of support rod.

In one of other preferred embodiment, the present invention provides a harness-less electromagnetic thread lifting device for Jacquard weaving machine which comprises mainly of; a metallic strip, support rod with, a Lifter head and support tube for horizontal support to device.
In arfbther embodiment; the device of present invention is devoid of harness-cord.
The support rod 7 is mounted with electromagnets and therefore is to provide basic support to the electromagnets and ensure that same remain in the position for the lifting portion of lifter head to exactly fit on top of it. Said support rod can additionally be mounted with plurality of electromagnets corresponding to number of threads.
Said support rod is arranged in a manner that provides vertical support to said metallic strip 1.
Said support tube is necessary for power supply as well as to keep the device in exact position for incoming lifter head
The lifter headlO of device comprises a lifting portion 10a of dimension which can exactly fit into magnetizeable surface area 2 of metallic stripl. Said lifter head is adjusted in a manner that can allows it reciprocates up and down movement on fixed interval, irrespective of electric current supply in the device.
In operation of machine, thread is directly passed through mail eye (4) of metallic strip of electromagnetic thread lifting device which is supported vertically on support rod (7) and horizontally on support tube (9). The electric metallic contacts (3b) and (9a) of strip and support tube respectively, constantly touch each other irrespective of relative motion between theiri, thus ensuring uninterrupted electrical supply to solenoid windings (2). The metallic lifter head (10) is adjusted to have reciprocates up and down on a fixed interval, irrespective of electric supply in device.

Whenever a thread is to be lifted, electric current is passed through solenoid winding (3) which magnetizes surface (2) to attract lifting portion (10a) of lifter head (10) which then exactly fits into it. In effect, Lifter head (10) starts moving upward taking the whole assembly on strip (1) and thus thread is passed through mail eye (4). This constitutes the first half cycle of the process.
In second half cycle, the lifter head (10) moves downwards with strip assembly thus bringing the electromagnet to its initial position and to lowers down the thread to its initial level.
Alternatively, if the thread is required to stay down, then no electrical current is passed through solenoid (3) and thus, surface (2) is not magnetized which then does not get attached to lifting portion (10a), even though said portion exactly fits into surface (2). In such a condition, the Lifter head (10) with portion (10a) moves upward without electromagnet and thread passing through mail eye (3) does not get lifted and stays down.
Hence, one of another preferred embodiment, the present invention provides a process for electromagnetic thread lifting device of Jacquard weaving machine which is based on the principle of electromagnetism for lifting and lowering of threads passed through mail eye of metallic strip.
In another embodiment; the process of device can include mainly the steps of; Passing of thread directly through mail eye of metallic strip
Supplying of electric current to magnetic surface area of metallic strip, through solenoid winding
Magnetizing of surface area of metallic strip, in effect of electric current Fitting of lifting portion of lifter head into surface area of metallic strip Moving up of Lifter head along with assembly of metallic strip Moving downward of lifter head bringing electromagnets on strip to its initial position to lower down the thread

Thus, the device of present invention would overcome the obvious drawbacks of conventional jacquard machine and would add technological advancement in Jacquard weaving mechanisms.
One of the advantages of present invention is to eliminate the need for harness cords to reduce the length and height of prevailing jacquard weaving looms, to make said looms more compact and user friendly.
Another advantage of this invention is that functioning of device of machine can be controlled by computers via electronics; hence providing automated function in machine to reduce manual involvement and hence reduces labour cost and practical complexities.
Another advantage of present invention is to enable faster, more automated and practical solution for Jacquard weaving machines, which increases overall efficiency and practicality of Jacquard weaving mechanisms.
While the present invention has been described in terms of its specific embodiments, certain modifications and equivalents will be apparent to those skilled in the art and are intended to be included within the scope of the present invention.
